We're back after a long December hiatus

Where did the time go? The holidays came and went and here we are in 2009!

Do you want to know where we've been? Here's a brief description of the month of December...in pictures.

In early December, Sebastian was invited to his first formal dance. It was a winter formal at San Marino High School and he went with Lauren Maese (a long time, childhood, friend).

Doesn't he clean up well?

It started to get really cold around here by mid-December! Well, we Californians happen to think 58 is pretty cold. So Valentina bundled up in a knit hat and scarf that Nana made for Daddy when he was a little boy:

Of course, when we weren't outside in the cold, we were inside various stores, getting all our Christmas shopping done. Here's Valentina shopping at Zumiez. "Dad look!I found the PERFECT gift! Who doesn't need one of these beer can holding hats?":

We got a lot done, so we gave ourselves a break one Saturday and took Valentina to Disneyland for her very first time. Yiayia, Nino, Nina and Sophia joined us and the little girls had a blast:

We weren't too sure how much Valentina was going to "get it", or how she would take to the characters walking around. What I didn't know, was that when she goes to Nana's house, she watches Disney sing along videos that feature Mickey and Minnie and all the characters, so when she saw the in real life, she wasn't scared at all; to the contrary, she was excited and giddy! Here's her face when she saw her first character, walking into Main Street - "It's Minnie Mouse!":

Mickie was "love at first sight". She couldn't take her eyes off of him.

The girls at Snow White's Castle - look how pretty it was decorated for Christmas:

Waiting in line for the Snow White Ride (Valentina's first ride ever) with Nino, Nina and Sophia:

A little love from Daddy, while waiting in line for the Dumbo Ride:

Leaving the park...cold and pooped, but with Mickey in our hearts and lots of fond memories:

Pretty soon, it was Christmas! The "main event". This year, we got together with both sides of the family on the same day - Christmas Eve. We went to Nana and Poppie's in the morning and then to mass at Holy Family, and Tia Amelia's for dinner.

Unfortunately, in our rush to get out of the house to family celebrations, I forgot my camera...so we don't have any pictures of our family celebrations (until I'm able to get some from family members that did have their cameras). All we have are pictures from Christmas morning at our house. It was a nice Christmas - it was cold outside, but warm inside. We didn't have to rush to go anywhere and we just took our time checking out what Santa brought!

Nana and Poppie came over to help open, as did Yiayia and Sebastian as well.

Valentina loved unwrapping gifts this year. She'd tear tissue paper out of bags and toss it behind her and keep going and going until the bag was empty and the gift was revealed!

Dad and Valentina chatting...

Mom and Valentina
We had a very nice Christmas this year and were very blessed this year. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and hope the New Year brings you many blessings and much joy and love!

Love,
The Rongas
