For those who aren't near enough to know what happened... We had a big party planned. The entire week before 10/4 was gorgeous, sunny and warm. The day after our party was also sunny and warm, but the forecast on Valentina's birthday called for rain! Just our luck! So we rented a big tent and did our best to carry on.
We thank everyone that came out to celebrate despite the rain! You guys are the best!
I hung her 12 month pictures across the back of the tent. Unfortunately I don't have a close up of them, they came out really cute!
Here is a close up of our monkey and banana centerpieces:
It wasn't raining when the guests first arrived, so the kids were able to play outside for a bit.

Ryder says "Yeeeeaaaaa boyeeeeeezzz"
Having fun with Ryder...
Uncle Cliff, Tavo and Natalie
It wasn't long before it started sprinkling, so the fun moved over to the craft table (which was covered by a canopy). Here's Olivia and her dad Peter working on a Halloween spider:

Cliff and his boys (Ryder and Keller):

Sophia and Daddy:
Margarita, Stewart, Pat Hahn, Aunt Judy, Papa, Tony, Anthony and Emma and Tamara:
Okay, so we had rain, crafts, food...and finally got to the BEST part of the party! The crowd gathered round:
The candle was lit....and everyone sang"Happy Birthday" to Valentina, for the very first time (the first of many, we hope)!
She got so excited when everyone started clapping, she started jumping up and down:
As previously mentioned, it was too crowded, and there was too much comotion to bring out her high chair...so we just sat her down at a table and let her enjoy her cake...and she DID enjoy it:
She even tried to inhale it! Totally her father's daughter! =)
We had tried to stay out of the rain all afternoon, so we didn't play too many of the games we had planned. Sometime after the cake though, it looked like the drizzling had stopped, so we rounded up all the kids in the front yard and let them have at the monkey pinata.

Unfortunately, it started to drizzle again a few kids into it. By then, there was no calling it off...these kids were all worked up over this pinata, so we stayed out there until they brought it down!
Check out Olivia's fierce hit:
We couldn't open all of her gifts, but Valentina did get to open this one from Nana:
Wanna ride?!
What do you mean my party is over?!
Nooooo! Holy meltdown!
As you can see, Valentina enjoyed herself and was sad to see her birthday (and her naptime) come and go. She can't wait to do it again next year!
